Winter print - Regenweibchen Photography

It was a very, very cold winter in Germany a few years back. In fact it was so cold that if you would blow a bubble outside it would freeze instantly. So that was me, standing in the garden trying to freeze bubbles and make them land on the wooden garden table without popping. It took a long time to get the result! Back then I loved using a red filter over my lens, so the colours in this photograph aren't edited but straight out of the camera.

The typical scottish landscape that is often displayed on pictures is this rugged , barren wide view over green cliffs and hills. I am absolutely in love with that view. It is, however not natural. A very, very long time ago Scotland had much more trees and was home to many more species of wild animals. As a forest lover I often go to the Trossachs National Park. It´s an area full of birds, nature and lochs. During autumn the whole landscape literally turns yellow and orange. The day I took these pictures it was completely still and the sun was setting over the loch, enhancing the golden colours of the trees. In the distance you can see small clouds lying on the hills.

When I started getting into photography I photographed a lot of small flowers and insects. I was (and still am) fascinated by this small world between the blades of grass. Where I grew up we weren´t blessed with big landscapes and mountains so I focused on the small creatures and plants. I realised that our world becomes so much bigger when we start discovering the hidden world of insects and their home.

Vipers Bugloss Wild Photographic Prints by Regenweibchen

Here you can see a beautiful plant called Vipers Bugloss. I wish you could hear the sound that was coming from these flowers. This buzzing is a very soothing sound. The bees absolutely loved it. Vipers Bugloss usually grows in coastal regions. I took this picture during sunset at East Lothian. It was a windstill and unusually warm summers evening. While walking along the beach it smelled of sea air and camp fires. Click the little player to hear the sound of the bees;)

It was one of those elusive warm scottish summer evenings. We had our tent not far from the coast nearby the forest and went for an evening wander. When all the day visitors of the coast disappear, the wind drops and the only thing you can hear is the sea birds and the waves of the sea. This for me, is a perfect moment. Click the little player to hear the sound of the sea;)

I love hiking the Scottish Highlands as you never know what you are going to discover. After a long walk through boggy ground, we tried to find a good spot to have our packed lunch. When we saw this little shed in the distance we knew that it would be the perfect little shelter to have a rest!

This picture was taken when I saw the Scottish heather hills for the first time. I often heard about them and saw pictures online but experiencing it was a whole other level of beauty. It was a fresh sunny summers day but when we where tucked in-between the hills the wind disappeared and it felt really warm. When I saw this sheep lying right in between the heather hills chewing grass I had to get the shot:) Click the little player to hear the sound of the sheep;)

The rain had just stopped when I went out to the forest with my dog. The drops of the rain had attached themselves to all the plants and trees and created a very magical look to the forest. Everything was glistening! Click the little player to hear the sound of the forest;)

Home Garden

This handsome fella was walking the grounds of my uncles garden in Germany. He was free roaming around the whole village until every evening he returned back to his home for sunset.

This photo was taken at the Royal Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh. I saw this flower and thought to myself: How boring, this flower is green, like the grass. But I took a photo of it anyway and was blown away by the beauty of it which became clear to me through the lens. This flower looks so soft and graceful and doesn’t need all of that colour to show it´s beauty.

We where driving to a close by forest walk when we came across this poppy field. We pulled in and I probably took 100 pictures in 15 minutes because I was so in awe of the beauty of this field. When you look at this picture you could imagine being a little bee flying towards this flower in excitement. Happy about the summer, enjoying the warmth of the sun.
